Amy Heishman is in her fourth year as English Teacher and Journalism Instructor at the Madeira School in Mclean, VA. She has taught English for high school and college. As part of the English department at Madeira, Amy teaches American literature and the senior science fiction class, “Future Fiction.” She works collaboratively with other departments to promote interdisciplinary instruction, often dabbling in the Madeira Maker Space. She serves as a junior adviser, the school newspaper adviser, and has previously served on the Co-Curriulum Task Force to build integrated curriculum for the junior year at Madeira. Last summer, she taught the first Harry Potter course for middle school students. This year, she is excited to re-ignite her love of literature at the Harvard Continuing Education Program and continue working on National Board Certification. Amy earned her Masters in English from North Carolina State University. Her Bachelor of Arts in English is from Belmont Abby College.
